Taxameter 10,000.
The German word "taxameter" was coined from the Medieval Latin "taxa," meaning "tax" or "charge" combined with "meter" from the Greek "metron" meaning "measure." In short, it means "taxi." In order to promote the Welti-Furrer company's taxicab fleet, an unnamed posterist places a line of "New elegant Autos" in ever-diminishing perspective, while placing one well-comported hack behind the wheel to represent Welti-Furrer's "Day & Night Service," while another driver is either in the process of checking his engine or stretching-out in order to stay limber for when his call comes in. Hence, the overall impression the viewer receives is one of readiness and availability. Which is no doubt precisely what Welti-Furrer was looking to convey. For another image for this firm, see No. xxx.
