Even though there isn’t a Blue Meanie or Apple Bonker in sight, it’s hard not to notice that this 7-Up promotion sub bears more than a passing resemblance to the legendary Beatles’ submersible vehicle. This Unsubmarine against a yellow background–executed in the same trippy Art Nouveau meets surrealism style as the 1968 cartoon–is such a close approximation that one has to wonder whether or not the Fab Four received some form of Unkick-back. In 1967, the Seven-Up Company introduced the Uncola advertising campaign, rocketing 7-Up sales nationwide. The tag immediately joined the nation's vernacular and remains synonymous with the soft drink.
