Condition: A-Slight creases at edges.
Printer: Paul-Martial, Paris
Reference:
Air Orient.
In a word, impressive. Even though the extensive city list included at the bottom of the design linearly sums up the airline’s route, it’s the Bernard Art Deco shorthand that captures and holds one’s attention, succinctly conveying motion, urgency, dependability and round-the-clock service, even without the inclusion of the commercially sympathetic text line. Air Orient was formed in 1930 by a merger of two smaller airlines; three years later it became one of the components of Air France. Originally a caricaturist, Bernard began working exclusively as a designer for Paul Martial around 1927. The association gave him the opportunity to become a first-class graphic designer.
