Nach Sudamerika in 3 Tagen! ca. 1936.
The majestic sweep of a dirigible is superimposed on a map of its route. In the mid-1930s, it looked for a time as if Germany was going to get the lion’s share of air travel; its zeppelins were faster than ships and a lot more comfortable than the early transoceanic airplanes. However, the fiery crash of this vessel’s sister ship, the Hindenburg, ended any hope for this mode of travel in 1937. Anton was a native of Hamburg who started working for a local agency there, but from 1921 on, had his own studio where he produced a large body of work for Hapag, the big transatlantic conglomerate. Later, he became an art instructor at the Bremen High School of Art. This is the smaller format.
