Buffalo Bill’s Wild West/Congress of Rough Riders.
Though many posters for the Wild West are graced with Cody’s presence, a relative few show him in engaged in cowboy routine–more often than not it’s the fearless frontiersman with rifle in-hand that’s portrayed. However, here we’re given Buffalo Bill himself in the process of lassoing a wild stallion, with all the fierce, straining action inherent in the event. And though perhaps animal rights activists might be horrified by the portrayal, you have to admire the eye-bulging, tongue-flailing realism with which the roped horse is rendered. Rare!
